10h30 to 11h30 and 17h00 to 18h00 - Simon DuBois ambassador of the event and sailing athlete,
Clipper Round the World Yacht Race

Simon tells you a journey that led him to become the first Quebecer to complete a crewed sailing race around the world! Relive the highlights of his journey and travel to the world of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race with him.

11h45 à 12h45 - Richard Petit  author, composer and interpreter,
From zero to me in 500 days

With almost no sailing experience in June 2017, I began my training with a ferry between Nassau and Champlain Lake, then chained by a crazy pace of practical and theoretical training, ending by the purchase of a boat in Annapolis. I will tell you how I mapped this dream to make it a life project and a great family adventure.

13h00 to 14h15 - Luc Bernuy sailing instructor and navigator,
Head South : an organizational affair

Hundreds of people dream of heading south, but not all of them reach it, or at least leave poorly prepared. The pre-departure organization is the key to have a successful trip. Luc Bernuy, speaker and author of L’Intracostal, le guide, will deliver with his usual humour, practical ideas to leave organized. He will also stay on site all day to dedicate his book.

14h30 to 15h30 - Diego Creimer director of the communications, Fondation David Suzuki,
Plastic waste at sea

The St-Lawrence flows through our veins, yet every year we dump large amounts of waste, including plastics. In Canada, nearly 90% of plastics end up in landfills, incinerators or in our lakes, parks and oceans. We can do better! It’s urgent to act now and reduce our overconsumption of plastic and improve the management of our recyclable residues. In this conference, we will discuss plastic pollution in water, its effects on health and ecosystems, and solutions to palliate this scourge of the 21 century.
